DESCRIPTION:Fall Technical Session\nBuilding Permit Requirements and Concrete Restoration\nSummary: Scott Holm and Zack O’Grady will present the latest and most up-to-date information regarding building code permit processes\, requirements\, special inspections\, and building components that require permits.\nDate: October 7\, 2025\nTime: 8:00-10:00 am. Registration will open at 7:30 am with coffee and donuts provided.\nLocation: American Engineering Testing\, Inc. (AET)\, 550 Cleveland Ave N\, St Paul\, MN 55114\nSpeaker Information:\nZack O’Grady \nDirector of Project Management \nZack has 16 years of construction management experience completing new construction and tenant improvement projects in a variety of sectors\, including commercial\, higher education\, multi-family\, worship\, office and warehouse\, residential\, and specialty subcontracting. He graduated from North Dakota State University with a B.S. Degree in Construction Management and then furthered his education at Concordia University by achieving a Master of Business Administration. \nZack is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the AGC of Minnesota\, as well as a member of the Leadership Blueprint Council. From beginning his career as a trim/specialty carpenter to working on skyscrapers across the country\, Zack has grown up within the industry and has developed the technical skills\, knowledge base\, and expertise to deliver successful projects and positive project experiences for his clients. \nIn his free time\, you can find Zack spending time with his wife and two children or pursuing one of his many outdoor hobbies. His passions include golfing\, fishing\, hunting\, camping\, snowboarding\, or any other kind of sport where he can stay active. \n \n  \n_____________________________________________________________________________ \n\nScott Holm\, CBO \n\n\nBuilding Sciences Senior Consultant \n\n\n\nMr. Holm is a Building and Structure Sciences Senior Consultant for Braun Intertec. Scott’s responsibilities include coordinating the storm shelter peer review and structural observation requirements of the International Code Council. Provides legal guidance and expert services for construction issues such as construction disputes\, construction defects and construction code compliance issues. Performs Property Condition Assessments\, according to ASTM procedures\, on a variety of building types. Perform third-party review and inspection of construction documents and specifications for NFPA 285 exterior wall assemblies and other building envelope components. Assists in the review and analysis of building component failures (i.e.\, water infiltration) and developing means of assessment and conducting investigation assignments. Assist in performing a variety of field testing\, including\, but not limited to\, window water spray testing\, blower door testing\, thermographic (infrared) inspections\, and waterproofing/air barrier testing/inspections.   \n\n\nScott’s experience has included 30 years as a building inspector\, 20 of those years for the University of Minnesota\, which involved performing plan reviews\, inspections and evaluations of building systems and installations for all new and existing buildings in accordance with the Minnesota State Building Code. This position worked as a liaison to other University departments for questions or concerns involving design\, operation\, and maintenance of building systems. The position also served as the technical code advisor and professional resource to the University construction community\, architects\, engineers\, and owners.   \n\n\nScott also teaches courses in the Construction Management programs at the University of Minnesota\, Dakota County Technical College\, and Dunwoody College of Technology. He currently serves on the Minnesota State Board of AELSLAGID as a public member\, serves as the Vice Chair on the International Code Council’s Education Committee\, and faculty member for the University of Minnesota Construction Management Advisory Board.
